Do you have your auto insurance and home insurance through the same company? There’s a discount for that!

Get insurance discounts by bundling your home and auto coverage plus…

There’s a popular saying these days, “there’s an app for that!” Well, with auto insurance now a hot commodity, there’s going to be a new saying, “there’s a discount for that!” Each month you complete the process of paying your auto insurance bill, not even realizing that if you did a little bit of research, there are loads of discounts you could be getting.

Of course, the discounts vary depending on who your provider is and which state you live in. So start digging around, you may be surprised at what you find. Most insurance companies are willing to reward you for various things like:

Bundling. Do you have the same provider for your home and auto insurance? They may offer you a discount for that. And if you don’t use the same for both, you may want to make that switch. Plus, how much easier is it to pay one bill for both? Increasingly, some providers are even offering life insurance as part of a bundle package. Looking at it from a financial stand point, the more you bundle, the more you save. On the flip side, having one provider will give you a sense of consistency with communication and how your claims are handled.

Multi-car. Do you have more than one car in your household? There’s a discount for that too!

Pay it in full. Some carriers will offer a discount if you pay your full balance upfront.

Your career. Are you a teacher or in the military? It’s quite possible that your career could save you money on car insurance.

“Like” on Facebook. There are even some providers out there that will offer you a discount when you “like” them on Facebook or other social media outlets.

Insurance companies spend thousands of dollars each year to differentiate themselves from the competition. And as the competition heats up, more and more obscure discounts are being offered. Here are more you may not know about: safe driving, taking a safety driving class, low mileage, good student discount, being married, and anti-theft protection on your vehicle.

So, do you qualify for any of these discounts? Doesn’t hurt to ask! And who knows, you may even qualify for discounts that aren’t on this list. Do your research, ask your independent agent, and save money!
