Does Your Insurance Agent Have a Mobile App?

A well designed mobile app from your insurance agency can be a great tool to make your insurance life easier!
4/22/2014

A well designed mobile app from your insurance agency can be a great tool to make your insurance life easier! Let’s face it, mobile apps are fast becoming mainstream for accessing content on the web through mobile devices. With today’s technology, you can use a mobile app to better manage your policies and provide instant help in the case of an emergency. Here are a few ways your agent’s mobile app can help you.

Store ID Cards and Documents. Forget searching through bulky filing cabinets of yesteryear when you can store your insurance documents right in your agent’s mobile app. Many states have officially approved digital copies of ID cards instead of paper, and virtually all states are headed that way. So you can store your ID cards, declaration pages, even speeding tickets right inside your agent’s mobile app.

Submit Claims. Most of us aren’t really sure what steps to take when we’re in an accident—a good mobile app will guide you through the do’s and don’ts and provide some great tools to get your claims handled quickly. Gather needed information, take pictures, use a GPS locator and date/time stamps and your claim can be on its way. A mobile app should simplify the claims process for you.

Manage Policies. It’s not always convenient to have to contact your agent during business hours when you need to add a driver, change a vehicle or adjust coverages. A mobile app can simplify this process by allowing you to send needed information, including pictures of the new car when you have the time. Many apps will also allow you to make payments to your policy through the carrier’s secured login.

Easy Contact. Personal service is your independent agent’s greatest tool and a mobile app will only help him/her serve you better. You don’t need to be at your desktop to send a quick email or to search for your agent’s phone number. You’ve got his business card right inside his mobile app and he’s always easy to reach.

Your agent’s mobile app might also include other useful tools such as an Emergency Services locator, a Home Inventory, Accident Diagrams and more. But remember, the best part about your agent’s mobile app will always be that he is there when you need him.

Mobile apps have become so popular that Americans used smartphone and tablet apps more than PCs to access the Internet in the month of January (2014). That’s the first time that has ever happened.
